This module sets the stage for your journey. You’ll get an overview of the course, understand what makes a strong and appealing character, and explore the basics of shapes, forms, and concept sketches that will guide your creative process.

Drawing Materials
Before diving into your character, you will explore the essential tools used throughout the course. Learn about different drawing pencils, how to choose the right materials, and how erasers can be used as an active part of the drawing process rather than just for corrections.

Pirate Concept Sketch and Line Art
This module marks the start of your hands-on character project. You will create the basic framework of your pirate, define the overall form, and start adding depth and detail to both the face and body. You will also begin working with light and shadow to bring a sense of volume and life to your sketches.
Module 4
Bringing the Pirate to Life
Here, your character begins to take shape. You will refine your line drawing, prepare the background, and move into detailed studies of the pirate’s signature elements such as the hat and bandana. Each lesson builds toward a cohesive, expressive design that feels alive on the page.
Module 5
Drawing the Pirate’s Face and Head
In this stage, you will focus on developing the pirate’s facial structure and expression. Step by step, I will guide you through drawing the eyes, shaping the features, and building textures such as the beard and hair. The result is a face filled with personality and depth.
Module 6
Drawing the Pirate’s Weaponry
This module focuses on the details that complete your character’s identity. You will learn how to design and draw the musket, sword, hand, and hook, using these props to enhance both storytelling and visual balance in your composition.
Module 7
Drawing the Pirate’s Body
In the final module, you will bring everything together. You will complete the pirate’s body step by step, adding the peg leg and boot, and refining proportions, gesture, and character presence. The course concludes with a final critique and review to help you evaluate your progress and take your work to the next level.
